Shes crafty, and shes just my type!

The craft bug bit me over the weekend and its about time! I have the most massive list of things I want to create. I decided, one by one, I want to knock them out before summer school starts (that gives me 2 weeks!).

I found a tutorial via Pinterest (have you added me on there yet? God I love that website!). A few things that aren't covered in the link...
- I went larger it turns out. If you choose to make a larger wreath be prepared for it to kinda take forever (and burning yourself at least 3 times on hot glue).
- I added a few pictures of my method of application. It took me a bit to get a rhythm down for how I was placing the filters. I would have liked some pictures of how the other girl put her filters on. Mine are a little too perfect. I like that perfectly messy look of hers more.
I'm so hooked on collages

I am super pleased with the results! Really this project was super cheap. I wish I remembered how much the tubing was, not over 2 dollars. I already had the filters which were 99 cents and I stole borrowed some tape from my mom. The only thing I would have changed was the size. I kinda went large in proportion to my front door. I may give it to someone with a grander door.

In other news. Shane has been talking about wanting to start a blog. Its kind of cute. The themes he throws at me are all super "Shane". So I asked him if he would do a guest post on here. I was just thinking I don't blab about how great he is enough (mainly cause I'm not a huge sap). I'm really excited. I think I know what he is going to write about (hint, food). I'll have him include the picture of his new tattoo. I really like it!

Lime in a coconut

This weekend was marked with lots of down time. Shane is in the process of preparing to sell his car. I can't believe it. Shane is one of those Subaru nerds. He says he always wanted one in high school. He got one, dumped a ton (well not so much a ton to him but a ton to me) of money into it and now his priorities have changed (his words). So we went up to his grandma and grandpas to clean up his car and resurrect the Jeep for him to drive until he buys his new car. While Shane took a break from car washing and while we waited for dinner I made the mistake of daring Shane he couldn't cartwheel. Then I dared him to round off. Then HE dared me to climb the redwood tree in the backyard. In real life I am not too high up my tree. In real life Shane is almost at the very top of this insanely high redwood tree. I was super impressed.

Sunday we went to Marshall's. I got the most adorable pair of sunglasses for 8 bucks and a new pot for my basil. I am excited the weather is getting better. I love planting and I super love having a porch of my own to make pretty! Shane went to Davis to get tattooed while I stayed home watching Intervention and crafting (stay tuned! Super cute wreath tutorial to follow).

I'd say it was a pretty successful weekend.

The Clocks a' Ticken

Source

Going through a very contemplative time right now folks. I am treading on ground that is only semi familiar. I feel like throughout my life I hit these points of growing pangs. Everything seems like nothing is sure and new ideas are making me feel crazy! Its either grow up or go home. However what has been perplexing me lately is turning out to be a big deal. I don't know what it is but lately I have really been contemplating God. The big G-O-D and of course Jesus. I never know where to start with it. I usually just go to church. Usually when I do that the priest seems to have known I was coming and speaking straight to me! The thing is I never really felt comfortable at the churches I was raised with. This is all so new to me. Has anyone ever hit a theological wall? What do you do?

Food for Thought

I've noticed a huge change over the years here in Sacramento. Its so funny cause a friend and I were just talking about how mean and dangerous everyone has become. I found this really interesting video over at Carolee Beckham's blog. This really inspired me to try and make more of an effort to be nice and nonjudgemental, especially to people I don't know. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Happy Sunday!

Moms day and other things

I have been neglecting this blog lately. I can't even say that I have been particularly busy. Maybe for instances. Lots of things going on though.

+ Passed pre algebra with a B!
+ Shane is in the process of moving in. We are waiting for the remainder of the lease to run out to make all the big changes (moving his bed down and such). I am over the moon excited!!
+ had a really great mothers day with both my mom and Shane's family.

Now that I am finished with spring semester I have about 3 weeks of only work. I AM FREAKING OUT! I hate down time like this because I feel like I should be studying or something. I plan on doing a lot of crafting and spring cleaning and spending time with friends. I'm excited for whats in store for my cousin Avalon. She has senior prom this weekend and graduation early next month! Shane and I are planning on renting a car and driving to Oregon for memorial day weekend. Things are pretty great. My greatest lesson right now is dealing with the bumps that come a long and not run away from them. I can deal with most situations but in my interpersonal relationships I always want to say "forget it!" and walk away. I'm a constant work in progress and I like it that way.

I am excited to share over the next few weeks all the updates to my little home! So please stay tuned!!

I also plan on doing an inside guide to Sacramento and possibly Folsom

Here is a photo dump to hold you over.

We were going to move in Shane's bed.
finally, Raybeez got a more "manly" tag with up to date info

Moms day up-do. Easiest up-do ever! Next time I'm using a few bobby pins though.

Product Review

I recently purchased a few products I wanted to mention on here.

I follow The Doe over on Insagram and saw she picked up a bunch of Elf shwag (sorry if you were going to do a review girl). A little back story. I have been using the same (probably expired) Stilla illuminating tinted moisturizer forever. I don't care for it. Too oily for me. I have been on the search for an upgrade. I saw that Elf made one and figured I'd give it a go. I DIG IT! Goes on really smooth. Not too oily. Great coverage for a tinted moisturizer. Chock full of crazy good vitamins and aloe. Have I mentioned its got 20 spf?! The best part it was only 3 DOLLARS!!! I highly recommend it!

I also picked up a travel size packet of these babies:
I haven't ever really liked make up remover wipes. They never give me the same clean feeling washing my face does. However, there have been plenty of times I wish I had them because I was feeling too lazy to go through my washing regimen. I also have to say I totally stand behind finding new products in smaller form to test them out. Why buy what may be a year supply of something you don't even like!? Anyway, I love these. I feel clean and even slightly moisturized after using them. Plus I HATE washing my face twenty times a day (once in the morning, before a run and then again at night. It gets old).

Screw you Sacramento

My head is about to explode! Sacramento has enacted a full on air attack on me personally! Uhhhh! Great weekend though! Regardless how I feel about it spring is in the air. I am going to do my best embracing it. Here are some pictures over the weekend. This past weekend was the most laid back yet.

I have been struggling with my hair. I'm not sure if I have ever griped about my hair here before. I have a TON of hair. Some people say that, I completely mean it in every way. I sit down in a hair dressers chair and tell them "I have a TON of hair" and they just say "oh, ok." then they grab hold of that mother and they let out a terrified "ooooh" and I say "yeah". I usually need it thinned out every 6 months or I have a break down. Recently I got it thinned out and the hairdresser was great and I love her. I wanted to go short:

But I'd love to be able to achieve this:

For some reason it seems too much of a pain to have this long hair. I don't seem to have the patience for it. Its usually in a top knot (especially for work). Then today at brunch I went the first time eating with out pulling my hair back. I ended up with MAPLE SYRUP IN MY HAIR! UHHHH! I am fed up. I love braids and styles and things but I just don't know what to do. Stupid hair!

Tomorrow starts a new week. Lots of exciting things happening my way. I'm ready for a fresh month and a fresh start!
