Insta-dump

So much has been going on. This week has been really stressful. Of course my hormones know exactly what is going on in my life and kick in dragon time in full effect. So aside from my insta-dump here are some goings on:

- Sac state orientation down. It was kind of horrific. Very intimidating. But I am slowly starting to get excited to start school. I have settled into the concentration I like within the umbrella of psychology and that should be a very interesting journey.

- I got a boyfriend. A new one. He is amazing and I am completely smitten with him. We go on lots of adventures. Theres a song that comes on that makes my heart flutter and think happy thoughts. yup. Those silly butterflies.

- Summer school starts July 9th. Sign II here I come.

Transitions aren't supposed to be painless. If you can think back its a lot like growing pains when your bones shift around when your young. This may be tumultuous but I know someone up there is looking out for me and that everything is going to turn out ok.

Home is where I'm alone with you

I had the most amazing weekend let me tell you. I went up to the LDS young women's camp with a friend and his families ward to open up the cabins and other service projects. We got there really late. Naturally we headed straight for the fire pit with our s'mores fixins. Best. s'mores. of. My. LIFE!!! Andes mints people! They are the best. But there is this whole process to making these things to die for that I don't think I could replicate. I slept on the back porch of the main hall. It was amazing. The moon was huge and you could barely see any stars. After cleaning dishes, eating break fast, and sweeping and dusting 4 out of 7 cabins we took off on our own. We galavanted around this really awesome abandoned ski resort with magnificent views of Sierras. Who would have thought running around that place would be probably the most seamless and special moment I've had in quite some time. Spiritual. After that we went around a few other places in the mountains, went shooting (my aim sucks more than I thought it did), and ended the adventure with ice cold swimming. I literally feel like I was dreaming. I fear I am completely hooked on the mountains. Going up there is the best escape from all the stress and bustle of every day "city" life. I can't wait to spend more time there. Oh! Plus we saw our first bear!! I never want to forget this past weekend.

Checkpoints. Since I don't have math ones anymore.

School: Got a B in Stats! I can't hardly believe it. I really enjoyed learning to love the struggle and am excited that its inspired me to go into research.

Now I am *really* in at CSUS. I was recently activated to be able to register for classes. Orientation is on June 16th and I couldn't be more excited!

Myself: I have currently started on a skincare war path! Oh the pins and the lotions and potions that have filled my life. I love it! I am slowly discovering what works for me and I love the results. Even more so, I love my peek of abs!! All those crazy V-ups and 45 mins of cardio and clean eating is finally paying off. I've stopped to look in the mirror twice today at my abs. Could not be more thrilled.

Went to the temple recently. Like in it! It was perfect. That is all.

I am starting to come to terms with the fact that marriage is not in the cards for me. I figure I'll spend the money I would have spent on my dream orchard wedding and children on traveling. AROTC here I come! I guess on the bright side this gives me the freedom to move wherever I want. I've been having the itch to move somewhere I don't know anyone. You learn so much about yourself when your taken out of your comfort zone. Its a bummer, but it is what it is I suppose. This is the one area of my life I have been dealt the crappiest hand. I just can't win and am too exhausted to try anymore.

Works terrible. I need a new job. I got a verbal warning because the "way I handled" leaving a situation where I was faced with ringworm for the fourth time. Did I mention I caught it three times from this kid?

Help a sister out

Ok ladies. Mormon gal to Mormon gal ( or any other lady frustrated with modern clothing quality). What do you ladies do when you have a skirt or dress that's see through? I just bought the most adorable Anthro dress and you can see straight through it. It's just the most heart breaking thing when I find something that is ADORABLE and modest, but when I get out in the sun light you can see straight to my chonies! Ever happen to you? I may cave and start making my own slips. Halp?!

In other news how cute is this dress from Down East Basics?! It's nice to go into one place and not have to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions

Does that say Cookies?!

(I tried getting these pictures in order but it was a no go. Bear with me)

Shane and I's trip to the city was awesome! Shane hates SF. It literally breaks my heart because I love SF! Its my hometown. Past trips have given him a sour after taste. This time around I did a lot more planning! I hit Yelp and checked out where all the good food was first (right Tiffany? What else would we start with?!). First we went to the DeYoung Museum and took a gander at the John Paul Gaultier exhibit. It was fantastic! The mannequins looked so life like and the exhibit went on forever. The mind blowing part was how many hours could be put into just one piece. After the DeYoung we decided to check out the Japanese gardens right next door. They were beautiful. I kind of remember my Dida taking me there as a kid. After that I had a few vintage/thrift stores I wanted to check out in the ever so hip Mission district. After the first place being a total bust I was delighted to find an adorable dress for only $12!! On the walk back to the car I glanced across the street and saw Anthony's Cookies. I stopped dead in my tracks! I have a HUUUGE sweet tooth! We stopped in and got a few cookies and milk. I highly suggest a visit if you are in San Francisco. Don't forget some Clover milk!

We went to North Beach for some delicious pizza for lunch! I felt like I was in Italy because our server (and possibly one of the owners) barely spoke english. Have I mentioned yet how glorious a day it was?! Well it was beeaaauuutiful! We tried and failed to grab some ice cream at Bi-Rite. I may have thrown a tantrum because of the traffic (and the heat) and then because of the line wrapped around the block. So we threw in the towel and headed to Baba's.

Things weren't so great over there. I was excited to see my Baba but she wasn't doing so well. Thanks to an abnormally hot day inland my Baba fainted from the heat. The whole time refusing to go to the hospital. I know where I get my stubbornness from now. We kept telling her we wanted her to feel better and to go to the hospital but she would only respond, "I'll feel better if you sit down and eat the dinner I made you". Thankfully she was ok, but the whole incident scared the crap out of me. I took Shane to a froyo place my Dida used to take me as a kid. Yumi Yogurt is a popular attraction in my hometown of Belmont; there was quite the line when we got there. I plan on making more frequent trips to hang out with Baba soon. Just as soon as my breaks in my car get fixed.

Cookies n Cream, chocolate chip, and toffee mmmmmm

Shane's favorite, the designer himself, and my favorite!

Finish Hard

  • Lately things have been so crazy! I'm falling behind in math. Uh! I was doing so good. The entire class was really blind sided by this one quiz. My classmate put it best saying how hard it is to go into something feeling confident you know the material only to find out you were wrong. Story of our lives right? It will all work out and I will pass. I have discovered in my life that if you really want something you will get it. I want to pass this class. So its simply going to happen.
  • Shane and I spent the weekend in San Francisco. I missed that place. It was beeeaaautiful (I'll post the pics later)! We spent the night at my Baba's house. Things at the homestead got a little scary but I thank God everything worked out alright. I feel so thankful to have such an amazing example of strength in my Baba.
  • I am starting to really settle into my calling at church and I love it! I feel important and it gives me purpose. I just love helping out my fellow sisters in Relief Society (no lie!). I'm also excited to be taking part in my first Mormon Helping Hands project cleaning up a local high school.
  • I am in love with climbing! For FHE last Monday we went to a ropes course and I could not get enough! I was particularly in love with the rock wall. It just so happens my favorite roommate's boyfriend works at a local climbing gym and they both love climbing too! I belayed for the first time and I didn't drop Sarah (roommate)! Had some seriously awesome roomie bonding time. After climbing I did my first spin class. I wanted to walk up to the instructor and shake his hand. That work out was the first I had ever pushed myself so hard! It was fantastic (or so I have told myself so I go back)!
I hope that this next week flies by. The weather is going to be fabulous and I don't want to spend it sitting at a desk or cooped up in the house. Hope you all are enjoying the spring weather. Don't forget to stay cool and DRINK WATER!!

Spring break in Oregon II

Day II Friday. I got to spend some one on one time with my step mom (whom might I say I like a ton!). We "went into town"! That'll make you feel bone-e-fied country won't it? I got on my city clothes and we went to Wally world of course! My favorite stop was Sherm's Thunderbird where I found Butter beer!!! Ok, so it's not from the "Leaky cauldron" like in the movies/books but close enough! The best part about being in Oregon is no sales tax!!! Hog heaven!!

Saturday was a rough day to start. My dad and I went on a mini bike ride that was insane! I'm so used to riding on flat ground here in Sacramento. Needless to say I learned how to use my gears! Plus my dad gave me this fantastic drawing my papa drew in 1933!! I had no idea he was such a talent!

Driving home was a breeze. I stopped for Sonic. Couldn't pass up the sweet potato tots!!! Only suffered minor culture shock as I drove up to downtown. I miss the farm already. Next time I hope to bring Shane and maybe his sister. Hope all of you had relaxing spring breaks I know I did!
